Guest Book

We wanted to do something different from the traditional guest book format.  I found the website "I Do" Engravables, which offers personalized signature mats and frames.  Guests sign the frame with a special engraving pen.  There is a space available in the middle for a photo.  It is something we can hang in our home and look at on a regular basis.

Honeymoon

We have had several people inquire about where we are going on our honeymoon. We wanted to go to the beach or Disney, but because of David's work schedule, we are taking a shorter trip to the Smoky Mountains. We will be staying in a cabin at Hidden Mountain Resort in Sevierville.www.hiddenmountain.com. We hope to have that longer honeymoon in the near future!

Next Visit to All O-K'sions

We went to All O-K'sions today to touch base about decorations for the church.  We will have two
15-candle candelabras on each side of the stage.  Next to the candelabras will be either two floral arrangements on pedestals or ferns with pink bows to add a pop of color.  On the ledge of the baptistry will be either greenery with pink flowers intermingled or toulle bows on each side and in the middle of the ledge, with toulle swagged from each end.  Two ferns will be on three-foot white columns on the floor on each side of the stage.  The railings inside and outside of the church will have pink and white toulle and bows swagged, with bows on the pews to designate reserved seating for family and students.  We think it will be very pretty!

Ceremony Music

Earlier in the blog I had mentioned that Jason Gross will be doing the music at our reception.  As for the ceremony music, we will be having the Orfeo string quartet.  Four current and former students from Tennessee Tech perform with this quartet, playing violins, viola, and cello.  We are looking forward to hearing them play!

Pre-Wedding Gifts

Last week we received a couple of gifts from dear friends who will not be able to attend the wedding.  Mike and Macie Eckhart, friends of David, were kind and generous enough to send us $50.  Mrs. Arlene Gross gave us this lovely towel set:

Second Visit to All-O-K'sions

Yesterday Mom and I met with Jenene at All-O-K'sions to begin finalizing flowers and decorations.  My bouquet will consist of flowers of various shades of pink, with a hydrangea as the base.  The bridesmaid and junior bridesmaid bouquets will look the same, except they will be smaller.  The stems will have a wrap around them.

My mom does not like corsages, so she will have a tiny nosegay bouquet.  David's grandmother, my registry attendant Tina, and family friend Thelma will have corsages with pink roses and ivory ribbon.  Alyssa, my registry attendant and program distributor, will have a wrist corsage with three miniature pink roses.  I will have four servers, and they will have corsages with two miniature pink roses and ivory ribbon.

The boutonnieres will also be made of roses.  David, his father, my dad, and family friend Marvin will wear ivory roses.  The groomsmen, ushers, program attendant, and ring bearer will have pink roses.

Registry

We have been registered at Southern Traditions for the last several weeks.  However, we were excited to see our names posted on the registry in last Friday's newspaper!

Wedding Update

Here are a couple of wedding updates I decided to combine into one post:

Last weekend, Mom picked her dress out at Millie's in Tullahoma.  It's light pink, with a patch of pearls and sparkle on one side around the waist.  She is accessorizing with silver sandals and a necklace, bracelet, and earrings of pearls and sparkles.

Dad got fitted for his tux.  He will be wearing the same kind of tux as David and the groomsmen, but his vest will be black and silver.  He will also be wearing a silver bowtie.

The invitations have and are continuing to be sent out.  We are getting good responses!

Wedding Shower #1

Our first wedding shower was given to us by my colleagues at West Elementary:

The faculty and staff were generous enough to contribute to a money tree in our honor:

Friends Michele Whitlock and Tammy Blair gave me this cute market basket, complete with placemats, serving trays, and bowls:

I also received a very nice Lazy Susan from West Elementary friend Rhonda Martin:

Another friend from West, Janice Marcum, gave me this very pretty piece with our last name crocheted in it:

I am really looking forward to putting all these nice gifts to use!  Thank you, West friends, for your generosity!

Engagement Pictures

David and I recently met with Tessa Curtis to have our engagement pictures made. We chose the Greenway because that was where we went on our first date. We also had pictures taken downtown. Tessa was wonderful to work with! She had walked the Greenway prior to the photo session, looking for potential backgrounds. We will be getting a CD with all the photos on it.

Students of the Bride

I wanted a special way to recognize my former and current students at the wedding.  I asked Brandie Mansfield to make a sign, saying "Students of the Bride."  Here it is:

This will be hanging on the end of one of the pews.  Ribbon will block off a section that will be reserved seating for the students and their families.

First Fitting

Last Saturday I went for my first fitting at The White Room!  The dress looked beautiful! It will only need alterations in the neckline and the strap.  I am also requesting that the seamstress add a bustle to the back of the dress, to which I can attach my train.  I will be going back June 1 for the alterations.

Federal Platinum Dinnerware

Federal Platinum 5-piece Place Setting

It is called Federal Platinum and is by Lenox.

David also picked out his tuxes at Millie's in Tulllahoma:

Andrew Fezza Savannah Tuxedo

It's called the Classic Peak Tuxedo.  He will be wearing an ivory vest and bowtie to match my dress.  The groomsmen will wear pink vests and bowties to match the bridesmaids.  My dad will be wearing a silver vest and bowtie.  They will all look fantastic!

Here Come the Bridesmaids

I spent as much time, if not more so, deliberating over the right dress for my bridesmaids.  With their help, I made a decision today!  Here it is:

The designer is Alfred Angelo.  We ordered them at Millie's Bridal & Formal Shoppe in Tullahoma.  I particularly love the low back and the small train!  Michelle tried the sample on and looked lovely!  It's a great style and color for all the girls.  It can be easily accented with jewelry.  It will add formality to the wedding, especially since it's an evening ceremony
